I cried aloud "No!" as I read those terrible words and felt the hideous tear in my heart. I wasn't finished with you, my brother!

"I am hanging in the balance
Of the reality of man
In every sparrow fallen
In every grain of sand"

- Bob Dylan

I only met Simon briefly on his visit to Alaska. He was a true inspiration and will truly be missed by many.

I met Simon and his ugly-bike in Argentina. We spend christmas and newyear on Tiera del Fuego and we organized the "Fin del Mundo-cross" together.

We did dumb things together, like driving up a ski-piste.

We did good things together, like feeding a homeless bum.

We did strange things together, like walking barefoot on the beach when it was freezing-cold.

We made funny plans together, like maybe taking tango-lessons in Buenos Aires.

Simon tought me how to get a room for free, a meal for nothing or a bike-repair for a dime.
Also everytime I looked at his ugly-bike I was so happy with my stylish japanese technical wonder... and yet, he was so happy with his ugly-bike.

Now I will do all these things alone. But while I do them, I will think of Simon... Simon and his ugly-bike and his funny laugh.

Maarten

I only met you for a brief time Simon but your enthusiasm and dedication was inspiring. I have followed your adventure for nearly three years. You have done wonderful things for many others all because of your generosity. Your legacy is those who have benefited from your efforts and those of us who had the good fortune to have you cross our paths.

Has ayudado a cambiar el mundo.
Pero tambien se que terminaste tus dias siendo la persona mas feliz, viendo tu sueno hecho realidad.
Mis condolencias para todos sus familiares y amigos.
