It is with great sadness that we learn of the untimely passing of our friend Simon Milward. Though we try to find consolation in that he was following his heart and doing what he loved so much, he was a precious and shining example for our Community and he will be dearly missed. Our sympathies and condolences go to his family and all who loved him.

Ein großer Verlust für alle, die Simon kannten.

Ich werde nie vergessen, wie er sich bei mir aufwärmet, durchgefrohren auf dem Weg vom Elefantentreffen zurück nach Brüssel. Anders als auf einem Motorrad war Simon für mich nicht vorstellbar.

Er war so glücklich, als er von Brüssel zu seiner großen Reise aufbrach, die jetzt nie enden wird.

Mein Beileid an seine Familie.

Simon, you asked me three times to share your world and I always laughed it off - that doesn't detract from the fact that you were one very special person both to me and all the many people who knew you.

I am Malawian & Simon passed through the town where I live in July, 2004.
I was very shocked to hear of the news of his passing - his memory is still fresh with me. While he was with us in Mzuzu, he came to our church & we went together to the local prison & started up a prison ministry among the prisoners. He donated Bibles & some anti-septic soap for the prisoners. We will not forget his generous heart.
We thank God for all he shared with us at the church & pastor's house.
May God comfort his mother, relatives & friends all over the world.
We trust he is now in the peace of God.

En el mercado San Juan De Dios llego un motociclista, un caminante de largos recorridos. Su nombre Simón Milward.

Su sueñño darle la vuelta al mundo, en una moto que representara la unión fraternal de su existencia, Millenium Ride se llamo su recorrido.

Cruzo valles y montañas, ríos y veredas serpenteantes, áridos desiertos y frías ciudades siempre campante y animoso, como quien lleva el corazón levantado hacia el señor, como quien cruza el mundo en un viento anhelante.

Como siempre le pasa a los de un corazón limpio y un pensamiento profundo, la vida le sonreía cada segundo.

Llego como siempre a mi correo el mail de sus aventuras que francamente yo esperaba con una mezcla de curiosidad y distanciado orgullo, sabia que andaba en tierras lejanas. Ese día no lo abrí, presentí que no debía hacerlo como cada mes y sin embargo una semana después llego otro. Lo sabia, el ya había pasado al otro lado.

Leí con temor, y mis sospechas se confirmaron.... Murió como los valientes, como los que esperan ese momento con ansia de volver a su señor que los espera en su seno, con ese amor inconmensurable, en esta realidad tal vez hasta inentendible. Los de Flores lo extrañaran.

Descansa en paz Simon, nos vemos en la siguiente vuelta, tal vez un poco mas.... Hoy lloro por tu alma limpia y tu corazón abierto.

I had heard about Simon and finally got to meet him while he was in California. We set up a fund raising screening event for him at our dealership in Glendale and at the Ugly Motorcycle Club meeting. We were all impressed with his efforts, humanity and his courage. We are saddened by this loss. Simon rest in peace. :-)
